Follow the White Rabbit to Metropole’s Wonderland Market
April 3rd 2018

Following the huge success of last year’s Metropole Market, which attracted over 40,000 people to Lansdowne, we’re delighted to announce the return of our quintessentially eccentric market experience. We’re bringing another series of perfectly fun-filled family days out, each with their own quirky themes to Holdenhurst Road. We can also announce our first market theme of 2018, which is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s imaginative, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ tale!

Throughout 2017, we hosted four memorable themes such as the spectacular ‘Big Launch’, a vibrant ‘Day of the Dead’ Fiesta, our steampunk ‘Alternative Christmas’ and the sweetly wonderful ‘Christmas Candyland’. Beginning with our Alice in Wonderland theme on the 27th May 2018, expect more stalls from local Dorset traders and Lansdowne’s wonderful array of independent retailers.

Lining the road, we’ll once again have everything from handmade jewellery, to homeware, ornaments, clothing wares and eye-catching bric-a-brac. There’ll also be a delicious range of hot and cold food to indulge in from local food vendors and Lansdowne restaurants. We’re sure you’ll find something to enjoy and induldge in, as you can expect more artisan dishes, vegan and gluten-free snacks, international cuisine, freshly baked treats and sweet nibbles!

Throughout the day, prepare to be entertained with live music and awe-inspiring performances from talented local artists. Last year’s markets hosted such acts as the hilarious comedy duo ‘Street Comedy’, the jaw-dropping Pantheatrix’s fire breathing group and vintage musicians such as Lewis Jordan Brown and Miss Annie. Expect many returning favourites and new artists in 2018!

With one month left to go until our Alice and Wonderland theme arrives, we encourage adults and children to think about dressing up as their favourite characters for the market. Are you a Mad Hatter, a White Rabbit, a Tweedle Dum or Dee, the Queen of Hearts or Alice herself? Get ready to take a trip down the rabbit hole!
