Welcome to the first Metropole Market Blog. In the months ahead, we will be sharing news and information about Bournemouth’s latest most vibrant street market. Arriving in Lansdowne this September, Metropole Market is set to be a quintessentially eccentric ensemble of all things creative & delicious. However, before Metropole makes its ‘grand debut’, we are asking for all intrigued local traders to join us and bring our marvellous market to life!
Named in honour of a historic Bournemouth Hotel, destroyed during the Second World War, the Metropole Street Market will bring together a huge range of stalls, artisan foods, live music, vintage goods, entertainers, and kids activities. It will involve the closure of Holdenhurst Road from St Swithuns Roundabout to Lansdowne Roundabout, to traffic. This means pedestrians will be free to roam the eclectic collection of trade stalls on offer and explore the rows of remarkable retailers based on Holdenhurst Road.
Thanks to funds from the Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) we aim to attract over 5,000 people to each market and help bring new custom to local businesses. We want to be the ‘big bang’ which marks the start of the Lansdowne area’s regeneration projects.
However, with plenty of mouths to feed we need more local traders and food outlets to get involved. We are therefore delighted to be holding a public meeting on the first floor of the Christopher Creeke in Lansdowne on Thursday 15th June 2017. Taking place between 5 pm and 6 pm, drop in and join us to discuss how, together, we can feed the five thousand!
At the event, you can find out how your business will benefit from the Metropole Market, such as increased footfall to Lansdowne and free marketing for your Metropole Market stall. We would also like to discuss different ways you might like to be involved. This could range from opening for business on the Sundays, taking a stall within the market itself, or extending your business onto the pavement as part of the variety of festivities the Metropole will bring.
If you’re an intrigued trader, make sure to register your interest, book your stands, and get involved… Contact Sophie or Rebecca (our dynamic traders team!) via traders@MetropoleMarket.co.uk.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Lyn and Mark, Metropole Market Organisers.
